--- abstract: "Communication depends on the production and interpretation \r\nof representations, but the study of representational processes \r\nunderlying communication finds little discussion in \r\ncomputational experiments. Here we present an experiment \r\non the emergence of both interpretation and production of \r\nmultiple representations, with multiple referents, where \r\nreferential processes can be tracked. Results show the \r\ndynamics of semiotic processes during the evolution of \r\nartificial creatures and the emergence of a variety of semiotic \r\nprocesses, such as sign production, sign interpretation, and \r\nsign-object-interpretant relations." altloc: [] chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: 'CogSci2013, 35th annual meeting of the Cognitive Science Society' confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Loula given: Angelo honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Gudwin given: Ricardo honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Queiroz given: Joao honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2013 date_type: published datestamp: 2013-11-18 21:12:48 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/91/09 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: 0 edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 9109 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/9109/1/cogsci2013paper268.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: ~ item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: ~ lastmod: 2013-11-18 21:12:48 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: ~ publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 19 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2013-11-18 21:12:48 subjects: - comp-sci-art-intel succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: Studying sign processes in the emergence of communication type: confpaper userid: 4143 volume: ~
