--- abstract: 'This investigation explored gender-related norms, sexuality, and reproductive health among education students in a government university in Samar, Philippines. A descriptive-analytical design of study was adopted for this investigation and data were collected over a period of five months. Five hundred fifty (550) education students who were enrolled in the different year level completed the modified John Clelands’ Illustrative Questionnaire for Young People. Results indicated that 14.73% of the students reported having had early sexual experience where in 69.14 % had it unplanned. Among sexually active students, only 17.28% used contraception, with condoms and withdrawal as the most popular choices. Respondents were also found to have some misconceptions regarding HIV/AIDS and STI’s. Result also showed that dating was still acceptable, however, the idea of abortion and sexual coercion were considered wrong. No significant differences in the knowledge about HIV/AIDS and STI’s and gender norms were found across year level. Findings suggest a greater need for education, support and advocacy relative to sexuality so as to create a more positive school environment conducive for holistic growth and development of all students. Thus, school administrators should improve/enhance existing policies and programs relative to reproductive health among college students of the University such as health promotion activities, sexuality education, counseling and alike.' altloc: - http://www.ojhas.org/issue44/2012-4-2.html chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: - Leo7_nurse@yahoo.com - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ creators_name: - family: Labrague given: LJ honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Larios given: RJP honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Cinco given: KE honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Pescos given: JB honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Eclipse given: JAL honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Eclipse given: RAL honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Laureta given: VC honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2013-01-25 date_type: published datestamp: 2013-05-04 23:09:02 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/89/31 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: 0 edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: - Kakkilaya BS editors_name: - family: Kakkilaya given: Srinivas honourific: Dr lineage: '' eprint_status: archive eprintid: 8931 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/8931/1/2012-4-2.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: ~ item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: Sexuality; Reproductive health; Future educators; Gender norms lastmod: 2013-05-04 23:09:02 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 4(2) pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: Online Journal of Health and Allied Sciences publisher: Kakkilaya BS refereed: TRUE referencetext: "1.\tUnited Nations, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division, World Population Prospects: The 2008 Revision, Available atwww.esa.un.org/unpd/wpp2008/index.htm.
