--- abstract: Splenic cysts can be classified as parasitic and nonparasitic. Non parasitic cysts can be further divided into true and pseudocysts. Pseudocysts of spleen does not contain an epithelial lining. Pseudocysts of spleen are usually post traumatic and they rarely grow to a large size and most of them are asymptomatic. It can be confused with cystic lesions of spleen or pancreas or from the surrounding structures. These cases require exploration and is both diagnostic and therapeutic. Conservative measures to preserve spleen can be considered only in presence of expertise and if remnant functional splenic parenchyma is more than 25 %. Here we present two cases of giant pseudocysts who were confused with malignancy and referred to our centre and were later found to be pseudocysts of spleen. We would like to report these cases as they are rare and as diagnostic dilemmas. altloc: - http://www.ojhas.org/issue43/2012-3-13.htm chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: - vasureddyc@gmail.com - ~ - ~ - ~ creators_name: - family: Challa given: VR honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Swamyvelu given: K honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Goud given: GY honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Rangappa given: P honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2012-10-25 date_type: published datestamp: 2013-05-04 23:08:50 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/89/23 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: 0 edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: - Kakkilaya BS editors_name: - family: Kakkilaya given: Srinivas honourific: Dr lineage: '' eprint_status: archive eprintid: 8923 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/8923/1/2012-3-13.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: ~ item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: Splenic pseudocysts; Splenic cysts; Splenectomy. lastmod: 2013-05-04 23:08:50 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 3(13) pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: Online Journal of Health and Allied Sciences publisher: Kakkilaya BS refereed: TRUE referencetext: "1.\tFowler RH: Non parasitic benign cysts tumor of the spleen.
