--- abstract: 'The autonomic response (galvanic skin response) to a noxious stimulus (shock) is reduced when the stimulus is preceded by a warning signal. The greatest reduction, 53%, was obtaqined with a warning interval of 1 second. Warning also reduces variance of the response over trials, a decrease of over 90% for the optimum 1-second interval.' altloc: [] chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Lykke given: David T. honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 1962 date_type: published datestamp: 1998-12-20 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/07/76 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 776 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/776/3/13.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'Autonomic response, Electrodermal response, electric shock, pain perception, stimulus intensity modulation, preception' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:54:17 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 3531 pagerange: 665-666 pubdom: FALSE publication: Science publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 12 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2007-09-12 16:34:21 subjects: - physio-psy - psy-bio succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: 'Preception in the rat: Autonomic response to shock as a function of length of the warning interval.' type: journalp userid: 101 volume: 137
