--- abstract: "Online Social Networks (OSN) during last years acquired a\r\nhuge and increasing popularity as one of the most important emerging Web phenomena, deeply modifying the behavior of users and contributing to build a solid substrate of connections and relationships among people using the Web. In this preliminary work paper, our purpose is to analyze Facebook, considering a signicant sample of data re\r\necting relationships among subscribed users. Our goal is to extract, from this platform, relevant information about the distribution of these relations and exploit tools and algorithms provided by the Social Network Analysis (SNA) to discover and, possibly, understand underlying similarities\r\nbetween the developing of OSN and real-life social networks." altloc: [] chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: 'MIFI ’10: 1st International Workshop on Mining the Future Internet' confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Catanese given: Salvatore honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: De Meo given: Pasquale honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Ferrara given: Emilio honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Fiumara given: Giacomo honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2010 date_type: published datestamp: 2011-10-01 00:34:10 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/76/41 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: 0 edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 7641 fileinfo: application/pdf;http://cogprints.org/7641/1/fb%2Drel%2Danalysis%2DMIFI2010%2Dfin.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: ~ item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: ~ lastmod: 2011-10-01 00:34:10 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: 'ISSN: 1613-0073' number: ~ pagerange: 14-19 pubdom: TRUE publication: ~ publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 9 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2011-10-01 00:34:10 subjects: - comp-sci-mach-dynam-sys succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: Analyzing the Facebook Friendship Graph type: confpaper userid: 14714 volume: 685
