--- abstract: 'A method for rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) is presented and applied to visual handicaps. The technique entails presentation of words, or groups of words, at a common location. A consequence of certain disorders of the retina is a loss of peripheral information. Results from studies of one patient indicated that RSVP might be a useful aid for this type of visual handicap.' altloc: - http://psych.utoronto.ca/~muter/Williamson86.htm chapter: 7 commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Williamson given: N.L. honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Muter given: P. honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Kruk given: R.S. honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 1986 date_type: published datestamp: 1998-11-02 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/07/55 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: - family: Hjelmquist given: E. honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Nilsson given: L.G. honourific: '' lineage: '' eprint_status: archive eprintid: 755 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/text_html.png;/755/1/Williamson86.htm full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: ~ lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:54:16 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: 115-125 pubdom: FALSE publication: 'Communication and Handicap: Aspects of Psychological Compensation and Technical Aids' publisher: 'Elsevier, North-Holland' refereed: FALSE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 8 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2007-09-12 16:34:02 subjects: - appl-cog-psy - cog-psy succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: Computerized presentation of text for the visually handicapped type: bookchapter userid: 393 volume: ~
