--- abstract: 'In this study, we investigate the relevance of inflectional paradigms and inflectional classes for lexical processing. We provide an info\-rmation-theoretical measure of the divergence in the frequency distributions of two of the paradigms to which a word simultaneously belongs: the paradigm of the stem, and the more general paradigm of the nominal class in which the stem is embedded. We show that after controlling for other variables, this measure is positively correlated with response latencies and error counts in a visual lexical decision experiment in Serbian. We interpret these results as a trace of the simultaneous influence on lexical processing of both the stem and the inflectional paradigms.' altloc: [] chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Milin given: Petar honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Filipovic Djurdjevic given: Dusica honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Moscoso del Prado Martin given: Fermin honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2007 date_type: submitted datestamp: 2008-09-19 14:12:06 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/61/88 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 6188 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/6188/1/milin%2Detal%2Ddoc.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: inpress issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: inflectional paradigm; inflectional class; frequency effects; information theory; visual lexical decision; Serbian lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:57:11 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: ~ pubdom: FALSE publication: Journal of Memory and Language publisher: ~ refereed: FALSE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 24 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2008-09-19 14:12:06 subjects: - ling-morph succeeds: 5729 suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: 'The Simultaneous Effects of Inflectional Paradigms and Classes on Lexical Recognition: Evidence from Serbian' type: journalp userid: 6911 volume: ~
