--- abstract: 'Semen were collected using artificial vagina (AV), from 5 large white boars aged 2-2.5 years twice a week for 16 weeks in each of the two seasons, early rainy (ER) and late rainy (LR) seasons, to determine the effects of multiple semen pool admixture on the viability and acrosomal morphology. The semen qualities studied were sperm motility, live sperm and sperm concentration, while the acrosomal parameters includes normal apical ridge (NAR), damaged apical ridge (DAR), missing apical ridge (MAR) and loose apical ridge (LAC). There were no significant (P>0.05) seasonal effects. Three-boar semen admixture gave the highest percentage NAR, motility, live sperm concentration and least DAR and LAC, although these were not significantly (P>0.05) different from the 2-boar semen admixture. The result of this study suggests that 3-boar semen admixture is most suitable for use in artificial insemination program.' altloc: - http://www.ojhas.org/issue21/2007-1-3.htm chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: - princiano2001@yahoo.com - '' - '' - '' creators_name: - family: Ogbuewu given: IP honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Umesiobi given: DO honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Okoli given: IC honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Okoro given: VM honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2007-07-17 date_type: published datestamp: 2007-09-28 23:24:51 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/57/15 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: - Kakkilaya BS editors_name: - family: Kakkilaya given: Srinivas honourific: Dr. lineage: '' eprint_status: archive eprintid: 5715 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/5715/1/2007%2D1%2D3.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'Semen viability, Acrosomal' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:56:58 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 1 pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: Online Journal of Health and Allied Sciences publisher: Dr. B.S.
