--- abstract: "We describe an experimental approach towards implementing a commonsense `micro-theory' for buying and selling. Our prototype system characterizes how intelligent agents hold items and money, how they buy and sell items, and the way money and items are transferred. The ontology of the system includes money (cash, check, credit card), agents (people, organizations), items (movable, real estate, service), barter, and the notions of transfer, loan, buying by installments, profit and loss." altloc: - http://www.cs.bilkent.edu.tr/~akman/jour-papers/cs/cs.html chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Akman given: Varol honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Ersan given: Murat honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 1996-07 date_type: published datestamp: 1998-06-17 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/04/63 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 463 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_postscript.png;/463/2/cs.ps full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'commonsense reasoning, knowledge-based systems, knowledge representation, inference, naive theories of money, buying and selling, ontology, micro-theory, pre-economics knowledge, KEE (knowledge engineering environment).' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:53:58 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 4 pagerange: 327-352 pubdom: FALSE publication: 'Cybernetics and Systems: An International Journal' publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 10 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2007-09-12 16:28:23 subjects: - cog-psy - comp-sci-art-intel succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: Commonsense Aspects of Buying and Selling type: journalp userid: 178 volume: 27
