--- abstract: 'Recent findings in cognitive science suggest that the epistemic subject is more complex and epistemically porous than is generally pictured. Human knowers are open to the world via multiple channels, each operating for particular purposes and according to its own logic. These findings need to be understood and addressed by the philosophical community. The current essay argues that one consequence of the new findings is to invalidate certain arguments for epistemic anti-realism.' altloc: - http://www.cs.umd.edu/~anderson/papers/SRAD_2003.pdf chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Anderson given: Michael L. honourific: Dr. lineage: '' date: 2005 date_type: published datestamp: 2004-11-20 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/39/46 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 3946 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/3946/1/SRAD_2003.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: inpress issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'knowledge, vision, action, proprioception, realism' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:55:44 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: ~ pubdom: FALSE publication: Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: |+ Akins, K. 1996.
