--- abstract: "Revising is an evaluating and editing process that is an essential part of text production. Is text revising facilitated by the use of word processors? After examining the related research, it is difficult to conclude with certainty that the use of word processors is always effective in improving writers' revising skills, or that their use necessarily leads to the production of higher quality texts. Their effectiveness depends on a large number of parameters (computer equipment, writing skills, task execution conditions) which psychologists are now starting to measure." altloc: - http://www.up.univ-mrs.fr/wpsycle/documentpdf/documentpiolat/Publications/PiolatWP1991.pdf chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Piolat given: A honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 1991 date_type: published datestamp: 2004-05-06 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/36/21 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 3621 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/3621/1/PiolatWP1991.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'Word processor, text revision, writing skills' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:55:33 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: 255-272 pubdom: FALSE publication: Language and Education publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 12 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2007-09-12 16:52:20 subjects: - appl-cog-psy - comp-sci-hci succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: Effects of word processing on text revision type: journalp userid: 4333 volume: 5
