--- abstract: 'Baboons (Papio anubis) were tested on categorization tasks at two different conceptual levels. The monkeys showed their ability (1) to judge as identical or different the objects belonging to two categories, on a perceptual basis, and (2) to perform a judgment of conceptual identity—that is, to use the same/different relation between two previously learned categories. This latter experiment represents the first demonstration of judgment of conceptual identity in a monkey species' altloc: - http://www.up.univ-mrs.fr/wpsycle/documentpdf/documentvauclair/psyconbull01.pdf chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Bovet given: D honourific: Pr lineage: '' - family: Vauclair given: J honourific: Pr lineage: '' date: 2001 date_type: published datestamp: 2004-05-06 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/35/89 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 3589 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/3589/1/Bovet_Vauclair_Psy_Bull_rev_01.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'monkeys, conceptual identity, categorization, analogy' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:55:32 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: 470-475 pubdom: TRUE publication: Psychonomic Bulletin & Review publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 8 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2007-09-12 16:51:54 subjects: - comp-psy succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: Judgement of conceptual identity in monkeys type: journalp userid: 4872 volume: 8
