--- abstract: 'The practice of medicine was completely empirical in the beginning and the growth of technology added newer tools to the diagnostic kit. As the kit grew larger, there was a reciprocal diminution in the empiricism. The practice of medicine at the extremes of empiricism and evidence based medicine are not entirely desirable. Every physician should keep his clinical skills finely tuned and also acquire a well-balanced view of the utility and futility of any newly introduced diagnostic and therapeutic tools.' altloc: - http://www.ojhas.org/issue8/2003-4-4.htm chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: - Ramesh Babu K creators_name: - family: Babu given: Ramesh honourific: Dr. lineage: Kurnool date: 2004-03 date_type: published datestamp: 2004-03-16 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/34/98 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: - Kakkilaya BS editors_name: - family: Kakkilaya given: Srinivas honourific: Dr. lineage: Bevinje eprint_status: archive eprintid: 3498 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/3498/1/2003%2D4%2D4.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'empiricism, diagnosis, treatment' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:55:29 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 4 pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: Online Journal of Health and Allied Sciences publisher: Dr. B.S.
