--- abstract: This essay discusses Thomson's famous article "A Defense of Abortion". I argue that a Brave New World like future with artificial wombs and the possibility of a womb transfer procedure will change dramatically the scope and force of Thomson's ingenious argument. It is noted that grief and depression often accompany both women who give their child up for adoption and women who abort their child. altloc: [] chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: 'Judith Jarvis Thomson, "A Defense of Abortion," Philosophy and PUblic Affairs (1971)' confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Laurence given: Thomas honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2003-10 date_type: published datestamp: 2003-11-03 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/32/63 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 3263 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/3263/1/Abortion.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: ~ issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: "womb transfer (le transfert d'utérus), grief (le deuil)" lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:55:23 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: ~ pubdom: FALSE publication: ~ publisher: ~ refereed: FALSE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 12 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2007-09-12 16:49:36 subjects: - phil-ethics succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: "L'Avortement: Entre La Liberté et La Vie" type: preprint userid: 3947 volume: ~
