--- abstract: 'To cope with problems arising in the description of (1) contextual interactions, and (2) the generation of new states with new properties when quantum entities become entangled, the mathematics of quantum mechanics was developed. Similar problems arise with concepts. We use a generalization of standard quantum mechanics, the mathematical lattice theoretic formalism, to develop a formal description of the contextual manner in which concepts are evoked, used, and combined to generate meaning.' altloc: - http://www.vub.ac.be/CLEA/liane/papers/flairs.html chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: 'May 14-17, 2002' conference: '15th International FLAIRS Conference (Special Track: Categorization and Concept Representation)' confloc: Pensicola Beach Florida contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Gabora given: Liane honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Aerts given: Diederik honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2002 date_type: published datestamp: 2004-02-03 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/21/39 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: - family: Faucher given: Colette honourific: '' lineage: '' eprint_status: archive eprintid: 2139 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/text_html.png;/2139/1/flairs.html full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'collapse, concept, context, creativity, exemplar, guppy effect, impossibilist creativity, lattice formalism, pet fish problem, prototype, quantum mechanics, representation, superposition' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:54:54 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 1 pagerange: 148-152 pubdom: FALSE publication: ~ publisher: American Association for Artificial Intelligence refereed: TRUE referencetext: |- Aerts, D. 1993.
