--- abstract: | In this paper we name some of the advantages of virtual laboratories; and propose that a Behaviours Virtual Laboratory should be useful for both biologists and AI researchers, offering a new perspective for understanding adaptive behaviour. We present our development of a Behaviours Virtual Laboratory, which at this stage is focused in action selection, and show some experiments to illustrate the properties of our proposal, which can be accessed via Internet. altloc: - http://jlagunez.iquimica.unam.mx/~carlos/asia/articles/Gershenson-LearningReactiveDegree.zip chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: September 2000 conference: 'From Animals To Animats: The 6th International Confenrence on Adaptive Behavior.' confloc: Paris contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Gershenson given: Carlos honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Gonzalez Perez given: Pedro Pablo honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Negrete Martinez given: Jose honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2000 date_type: published datestamp: 2001-05-08 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/14/78 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: - family: Mayer given: Jean-Arcady honourific: '' lineage: '' eprint_status: archive eprintid: 1478 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/1478/3/Gershenson%2DThinkingAdaptive_TowardsABehavioursVirtualLaboratory.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'virtual laboratory, action selection mechanism, animats' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:54:37 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: 73-77 pubdom: FALSE publication: ~ publisher: ISAB refereed: TRUE referencetext: | Beer, R.
